Chattanooga Kaistorms FC Opens Season with Commanding 3-0 Victory

Updated: Apr 6

Chattanooga, TN – March 30, 2025

Chattanooga Kaistorms FC kicked off their 2025 UPSL Premier campaign in emphatic fashion, securing a decisive 3-0 victory over Paul Depay FC at Howard School in Chattanooga, TN. The season opener not only set the tone for the team’s ambitions this year but also saw a historic performance from 15-year-old right forward Brett Simpson, who became the youngest player to score a hat trick in a UPSL Premier match.

Match Recap

From the opening whistle, Chattanooga Kaistorms FC asserted their dominance, pressing high up the pitch and controlling possession. Their attacking intent paid off in the 12th minute when Brett Simpson capitalized on a well-timed through ball from midfielder Ethan Ramirez. Simpson’s composure under pressure was evident as he slotted the ball past the Paul Depay FC goalkeeper to give his side an early lead.

Despite Paul Depay FC’s attempts to regroup, Kaistorms FC continued to apply relentless pressure, forcing errors in the opponent’s defensive third. In the 33rd minute, Simpson struck again—this time after a pinpoint cross from left winger Jordan Wells. The young forward met the ball with a clinical first-time finish, doubling Kaistorms FC’s lead before halftime.

The second half saw Paul Depay FC push forward in search of a response, but Kaistorms FC’s defensive unit, led by captain and center-back Marcus Grant, remained disciplined and well-organized. Goalkeeper Alex Hernandez also played a key role, making a crucial save in the 57th minute to deny Paul Depay FC their best chance of the night.

As the match neared its conclusion, Simpson delivered the final blow in the 82nd minute. After a swift counterattack, he received a lofted pass from defensive midfielder Sam Okafor, beat his marker with a deft touch, and calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner—securing his hat trick and sealing an unforgettable night for both himself and his team.

Coach’s Thoughts and Player Reactions

Speaking after the match, Kaistorms FC head coach Kwame Ofori praised his squad’s performance and singled out Simpson’s achievement.

"I’m very proud of the way we played tonight. The team executed our game plan well, kept their composure, and showed real attacking intent," said Coach Kwame. "Brett’s performance was outstanding. To score a hat trick at this level, at just 15 years old, is truly remarkable. He has a bright future ahead, but this was a collective team effort, and we’ll continue building on this momentum."

Simpson, who was named Man of the Match, expressed his excitement after his record-breaking performance.

"I’m just happy I could contribute to the team’s win," he said. "It feels amazing to score a hat trick, but credit goes to my teammates for creating those chances. This is just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season."

Looking Ahead

With an impressive opening victory, Chattanooga Kaistorms FC will now shift their focus to their next fixture. The squad will be aiming to build on their strong start as they prepare for a tough away match next weekend.

The club also extended its gratitude to the fans, who turned out in great numbers to support the team.

"The energy from the crowd was fantastic. We truly appreciate our supporters and can’t wait to see them again throughout the season," said Coach Kwame.

As Chattanooga Kaistorms FC embarks on their UPSL Premier journey, this dominant display serves as a statement of intent. If this performance is any indication, the team is well on its way to making an impact this season.
